Foundation Stage - Mrs Southward 2023 - 2024

Hello and welcome to Reception's class page! The class teacher in Reception this year is Mrs Southward, who is joined by Mrs Bagot. Mrs Dandy and Mrs Mitchell join us daily for phonics and Mrs Gargan works with the children on a Wednesday afternoon teaching PE and Music. 

In Reception, we have a balance between child-initiated and adult led activities.  When children are operating in the provision they are learning through play, within enabling environments, with the support and guidance of knowledgeable adults; providing secure relationships in which children flourish and reach their full potential. The environments are very well planned for to ensure they meet the needs and interests of all children, provide adequate challenge, as well as enabling children to secure, revisit and build on their learning. 

Children have access to the both the indoor and outdoor environments for most of the school day. We love the outdoors and always take advantage of what nature has to offer. 

Children have snack each day. We ask for parents and carers to contribute to the cost of snack, with works out as £1 a week. Snack money is paid termly. Children always have fresh fruit each day and will have an additional snack. Snacks that the children will have during the week will consist of various cereals (low in sugar), hummus and vegetable sticks and toast. Milk and water is also available. 

Below, you will find our 'Learning Priorities' for Summer 1. Our key texts are 'The Three Little Pigs', 'Peepo! and 'The Odd Egg'. We will be adding resources and useful links onto the pupil portal and Tapestry each week. Please ensure you check these regularly for updates.
