• End of Year Transition Video Reception Class of 2024

Hello and welcome to Reception's class page! The class teachers in Reception this year are Mrs Southward and Miss Richmond, who are joined by Miss Longworth, Miss Boardman, Mrs McTomney and Miss Wharton. Mrs Mitchell  also joins us daily for phonics. Mrs Gargan works with the children on a Monday afternoon teaching PE and Mrs Tarbuck joins us on a Tuesday afternoon teaching music. 

In Reception, we have a balance between child-initiated and adult led activities.  When children are operating in the provision they are learning through play, within enabling environments, with the support and guidance of knowledgeable adults; providing secure relationships in which children flourish and reach their full potential. The environments are very well planned for to ensure they meet the needs and interests of all children, provide adequate challenge, as well as enabling children to secure, revisit and build on their learning. 

Children have access to the both the indoor and outdoor environments for most of the school day. We love the outdoors and always take advantage of what nature has to offer. 

Children have snack each day. We ask for parents and carers to contribute to the cost of snack, with works out as £1 a week. Snack money is paid termly. Children always have fresh fruit each day and will have an additional snack. Snacks that the children will have during the week will consist of various cereals (low in sugar), hummus and vegetable sticks and toast. Milk and water are also available. 

Below, you will find our 'Learning Priorities' for Autumn 1. Our key texts are 'The Colour Monster', 'Golidilocks and the Three Bears' and 'My Mum and Dad Make Me Laugh'. We will be adding resources and useful links onto Tapestry each week. Please ensure you check regularly for updates.
