Year 5 - Mrs Wallace 2026 - 2027
Mrs Wallace
Welcome to year 5!
Hello,
I hope all of the children have had a wonderful summer holiday and are feeling refreshed, excited and ready for lots of learning as they begin their journey into Year 5.
Alongside myself, the children will be supported in class by Miss Johnson. The children will also be taught by Miss Austin, who will be covering PPA time.
We Have a very exciting first term ahead of us! During English, we will be exploring one of my favourite books, Queen of the Falls, which will inspire lots of fantastic reading and writing opportunities. In Guided Reading, we will be delving into the wonderful world of Kensuke's Kingdom alongside exploring a range of interesting non-fiction texts.
During our Maths lessons, we will begin with Unit 1: Reasoning with large whole numbers before moving onto Unit 2: A ddition and Subtraction. We will be developing confidence, fluency and reasoning skills throughout each unit.
In Science, we will begin by exploring the properties of solids, liquids and gases, through practical investigations while developing our scientific knowledge and vocabulary.
Our History learning will take us all the way back to the Stone Age, where we will discover what life was like for people living thousands of years ago. In Geography, we will continue to build our geographical knowledge and skills through mapwork and climate zones.
There will be so much exciting learning, creativity and fun taking place in our classroom andI am really looking forward to welcoming all of the children and beginning our Year 5 journey together.
Supporting learning at home
Children can be greatly supported at home by regularly reading their school reading book and having their planner signed weekly. Regular practice of times tables using TTRockstars will also help children to develop their confidence and fluency in Maths.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and cannot wait to see everything the children acheive in Year 5!
