Year 4 - Miss Thomas 2025 - 2026
Miss Thomas
Hello, and welcome to Year 4.
I hope you all enjoyed a lovely rest during our first half term. I can't believe we have already completed our first half term!
PE this half term will be on a Wednesday and Thursday so please ensure you wear your PE kit to school on those days.
There will be two sets of reading books this year, a colour banded book and a reading for pleasure book. These will be changed once a week when planners have been signed.
In Key Stage Two homework will be set as a grid, with the children expected to complete one question a week from the grid. We also expect children to have read 3 times a week, practiced TT Rock stars and their spellings. Reading at home will be monitored weekly. Occasionally we will also send home a worksheet for your child to complete based on a maths activity.
Spellings will be sent home on Mondays and put on our class page and there will be an informal spelling test in class on Fridays.
We have lots of interesting learning coming up this half term.
In English we will be finishing our final piece of writing on Counting on Katherine by Helaine Becker. We will then move on to Leon and the Place Between by Graham Baker-Smith.
In Guided Reading we will be reading The BFG and a poem 'From a railway carriage'
In Maths we will learning all about area and perimeter and continuing are work on methods for multiplication, linking this with fractions.
In History we will learning continuing all about Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings.
In Geography we will be learning all about Volcanoes.
In Science we will investigating Electricity.
We will of course be practicing our creative skills in our music and our language skills in our French lessons.
We will also be having an exciting DT week this half term.
We are looking forward to working hard this half term in the run up to Christmas!
