Year 6: Mrs Andrews 2024 - 2025
Mrs Andrews
Hello everyone and welcome back to Year 6.
As we move into summer term, we start to focus more on SATs and preparing for them as best we can. We also continue to get ourselves 'high school ready' by learning to be increasingly independent and organised. This includes remembering our homework and organising our own belongings and resources. Our motto 'don't get stressed, just try your best', becomes ever more important as we move through this important next stage of our education
Our teachers, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Gargan will carry on helping us to love of learning- even when things get tough. Our learning assistant, Miss Johnson will continue to be an amazing support to our learning and help us if we are feeling a little anxious or emotional.
In summer term, we will cover a lot of learning and experiences. In english, we will complete pieces of writing around the book ‘The Day War Came’ and ‘Sky Chasers’ amongst other writing stimuli. In guided reading, we will study 'Macbeth' and start studying 'The Lady of Shalott' by Tennyson. This will help us when we begin to study texts at high school. In maths we will finish our work on fractions, decimals and percentages and then review all concepts in preparation for Y7. In history, with Mrs Gargan, we will learn more about World War I and II. In geography, also with Mrs Gargan, we will apply what we have learned about rivers and the water cycle to South America and later on, practise fieldwork skills. In PE we will cover dance, athletics and games. PSHE will focus on money and enterprise as we embark on an exciting project. In science we look back over our learning in KS2, again to help us when we move to Y7. In computing we will create webpages and learn more about programming. Miss Ward will continue to tach us keyboards as we move into the second half of summer term.
All of this and not to mention, school, eco and sports council events and an Art and DT blocked week
We have a really busy term ahead!
