Year 4 - Miss Austin & Mrs Keevil 2025 - 2026

Hello, and Welcome to Year 4. 

We are Mrs Keevil and Miss Austin. Miss Austin will teach Monday and Tuesday. Mrs Keevil will teach Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Miss Johnson is our learning support assistant. 

Welcome to Year 4 – Spring 2!

We are so excited to begin a brand-new half term together! This term is full of fantastic opportunities to learn, have fun, and make great progress.

Here’s what we have to look forward to:

We can’t wait to see all the brilliant progress you will make this half term. Let’s make Spring 2 our best one yet!

Reminders

PE this half term will be on a Tuesday and Friday please come to school in our school P.E kit. 

There will be two sets of reading books this year, a colour banded book and a reading for pleasure book. These will be changed once a week when planners have been signed.

In Key Stage Two homework will be set as a grid, with the children expected to complete one question a week from the grid. We also expect children to have read 3 times a week, practiced TT Rock stars and their spellings. Reading at home will be monitored weekly.

Spellings will be sent home on Mondays and put on our class page and there will be an informal spelling test in class on Fridays.

Children can bring in a healthy snack for break time or purchase toast for the term on the school app. 

Reminder- reading journals to be brought to school daily. 

No pencil cases or stationary from home are needed in school. Thank you. 

Here's what Spring 2 has in store:

In English we contine our journey into the place between reading Leon and the Place Between by Graham Baker-Smith.

In Guided Reading we will be reading The BFG and a poem 'From a railway carriage'

In Maths we will be learning all things fractions, including adding and subtracting, converting and calculating fractions of amounts. We will also be focusing on calculating area of rectilinear shapes. Our mutliplication focus for Spring 2 is to recap X6 and link with X12, to know the x12. 

In History we will delve into the depths of Ancient Egypt. 

In Geography we will be exploring the United Kingdom and National Parks. 

In Science we will investigating Animals including humans. 

We will of course be practicing our creative skills in our music and our language skills in our French lessons. 

We will also be having an exciting Art week this half term.
