In English we will be completing our writing based on our new text, 'Tidy'. We will also be reading many different fictional stories in our guided reading work as well as non-fiction.

In History, we will be exploring the Great Fire of London. In Geography, we will be looking at Canada. Our topic in science this half term is living things and their habitats. In Music, we will be practising explore beat, rhythm and tempo. In Computing, we will be communicating clues .  In RE, we will be exploring christianinty  and we will be continuing with our brand new programme called 'My Happy Mind'.

PE this half term will be on Tuesday and Friday. CHILDREN SHOULD NOW COME INTO SCHOOL IN FULL PE KIT ON THOSE DAYS.

In KS1 we have three different books that are sent home.

Reading for Pleasure books – these are sent home on Monday and returned on Friday. These are books that are to be shared as a family, at bed time, before tea or just snuggled up on the sofa.

RWI books – these are sent home on Monday and returned on Friday. These are phonetically plausible books that are chosen specific in line with your child’s phonic knowledge. Once your child has completed the programme they will no longer bring one of these books home.

Phonetically decodable or banded reading books – these are changed every Tuesday and Friday. Don’t worry about reading a full book each day, reading a couple of pages each day will be great. Please just make a note of which page you have read up to.

Please remember to read with your child as often as possible. School planners are checked daily for any messages.

In addition to reading daily, we have Rainbow Challenges for KS1. These are challenges set for each half term. The BLUE Rainbow Challenge has six different activities for you to complete before HALF TERM. Please take pictures of you completing each activity or of the completed activities and add it onto School Spider (Rainbow Challenges BLUE summer 1). If you have completed most of these challenges before hlaf term you will earn your BLUE Rainbow Certificate.

If you ever have any concerns or want to discuss something, please make a note in your child’s planner that you would like to speak to me or email the school office and I will get back to you ASAP.
