Year 4 - Miss Thomas 2025 - 2026
Miss Thomas
Welcome to Year 4 – Summer 2
I can't believe we have almost completed our school year as we almost reach the end of year 4! What an amazing year it has been! I have loved working with all the children and have had a truely amazing time with you all. Before we all start to get ready to relax this Summer, we have one final, really important, half term to complete as we start to get ready for year 5!
As always, we are not slowing down yet...our final term is full of fantastic opportunities to learn, have fun, and make great progress.
Here’s what we have to look forward to:
✨ Exciting new topics to explore
✨ Creative activities and hands-on learning
✨ Challenging ourselves and building confidence
✨ Working together as a team
✨ Celebrating our achievements along the way
We can’t wait to see all the brilliant progress you will make this half term. Let’s make Spring 2 our best one yet!
Reminders
PE this half term will be on a Thursday and Friday please come to school in our school P.E kit.
There will be two sets of reading books this year, a colour banded book and a reading for pleasure book. These will be changed once a week when planners have been signed.
In Key Stage Two homework will be set as a grid, with the children expected to complete one question a week from the grid. We also expect children to have read 3 times a week, practiced TT Rock stars and their spellings. Reading at home will be monitored weekly.
Spellings will be sent home on Mondays and put on our class page and there will be an informal spelling test in class on Fridays.
Children can bring in a healthy snack for break time or purchase toast for the term on the school app.
Reminder- reading journals to be brought to school daily.
No pencil cases, stationary or fidget toys from home are needed in school. Thank you.
Here's what Spring 2 has in store:
In English we begin our new book, Wisp.
In Guided Reading we will be reading Charlotte's Web and Pharoah Facts. We also have loved reading our class reading for pleasure book, A place called Perfect, which we hope to finish before we break up for Summer...it has had us all on the edge of our seats!
In Maths we will be learning all about measures, time, shape and space and solving two-step problems. We will also continue to practise our times tables so we do not forget them for year 5!
In History we will continue to delve into the depths of Ancient Egypt.
In Geography we will be exploring our capital city London.
In Science we will investigating states of matter.
We will of course be practicing our creative skills in our music and our language skills in our French lessons.
We also look forward to our DT topic, creating moving fairground attractions.
We thank you for your continued support as we come to the end of the school year.
